For farms and lodges

Big city connectivity and security, on your farm and lodge too

Rural Connect gives your property stable satellite internet, a properly built internal network, security monitoring around the clock and one dashboard for the whole operation, all from a single provider.

  • Satellite internet up to 150 Mbps
  • Every building networked
  • 24/7 security monitoring
  • One farm dashboard

Your current challenges

When the link drops, those systems go down

Rural properties run on systems that need the internet: cameras, alarms, borehole pumps, cold rooms, solar inverters, booking platforms and card machines.

When the link drops you lose sight of your property. Rural Connect keeps the link up, connects every building, watches it around the clock and puts the information on one screen.

What we are usually called in to fix

  • Theft at the kraal, the gate or the boundary, discovered hours later.
  • A failed borehole pump or pivot found only after the crop suffers.
  • Cameras and sensors in sheds and stores that never had a network.
  • Guest Wi-Fi complaints, failed card payments and poor reviews when the link drops.
  • Cloud accounting, payroll and email interrupted by unreliable LTE.
  • Four suppliers to chase to fix one problem.

Satellite internet explained

What is satellite internet?

Satellite internet connects your property through a dish on site and a satellite in orbit, instead of fibre in the ground or a cellular tower. It does not depend on how far you are from town: if the dish can see the sky, your property can be connected.

  1. Step 1

    Your property

A dish on a building sends and receives your data. The main router shares it across your network and Wi-Fi.

  2. Step 2

    Satellite

The signal travels from your dish to a satellite in orbit, with no cables or towers in between.

  3. Step 3

    Ground station

The satellite relays your data to a ground station connected to the internet backbone.

  4. Step 4

    Internet

Email, cloud apps, payments and video calls reach the internet, and the replies come back the same way.

How it works

Four layers now possible with Rural Connect satellite connectivity

  1. Connect

A licensed satellite link keeps you online where fibre and LTE fail, with automatic failover to your existing link where one exists.

  2. Internal network

Point-to-point links connect sheds, pump houses, staff housing and chalets, and separate networks keep cameras, office, farm systems and guests apart.

  3. Security

Cameras on key points, monitored by trained operators 24/7, with escalation to you and your armed response provider.

  4. 24/7 monitoring

One dashboard brings together cameras, borehole and tank levels, cold rooms, solar status, gates and weather, on your phone or laptop.

Everything on one screen

Eyes on your property at 2am

Our trained team of specialists can now monitor your cameras and alarms around the clock, escalate incidents and send out armed response in real time.

The dashboard raises an alert when a pump, tank or pivot reading falls outside its normal range.

What that lets us do

  • Alert you as an incident starts
  • Call out armed response
  • Flag a failed pump before the crop suffers
  • Keep the office working when LTE fails
